CAREER GOAL

A culinary career
“I liked to be with her, watching how I could help. Little by little, I started to develop my interest in cooking.”

For Brayan Osman Chupak, cooking wasn’t just a skill—it was a way to connect with his family and discover his passion.

Growing up in a close-knit family in the rural community of Vicente Guerrero, Brayan spent his days playing soccer with his siblings or helping his mom prepare meals in their small palapa home. He recalls, “I liked to be with her, watching how I could help. Little by little, I started to develop my interest in cooking.”

Despite his ambition, higher education seemed out of reach after high school. Brayan wanted to enroll in university but couldn’t due to financial and logistical challenges. Then he discovered Oído’s Culinary and Hospitality Institute, a program that offers scholarships, hands-on training, and a supportive community.

Brayan says the experience was transformative. Beyond the technical skills, he learned about the power of connection. “In the program, people who didn’t know me said things that inspired me. That kindness stays with you.”

Today, Brayan works at El Jardín de Catita, a restaurant in Kantunilkín, where he applies what he’s learned to create opportunities for himself. He credits Oído for giving him the tools—and the confidence—to pursue a career that he loves.

Brayan’s story is one of resilience and opportunity, highlighting Oído’s mission to empower young people to dream big, develop their talents, and create lasting change in their communities.
